Die Wucht des Traumas

Maya Lasker-Wallfisch is a psychoanalytic therapist specializing in transgenerational trauma. As the daughter of Holocaust survivor Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, Maya has experienced firsthand how trauma is transmitted from one generation to the next. Her mother Anita Lasker-Wallfisch was a cellist in the girls' orchestra at Auschwitz. Music saved and defined her life. Anita could not talk about the horrors she experienced in the death camps. Instead, the daughter has now found a clear and moving language to break out of the devastating silence.

In her book "Letters to Breslau" Maya describes how she suffered from what we know today as the transgenerational transmission of trauma, how such trauma determines one's own life and how one's own history always depends on what happened before. And it is about how we deal with contemporary witnesses and our culture of remembrance. The second generation of Holocaust survivors has an increasing responsibility to bear witness... Together with her mother, Maya Lasker-Wallfisch fights for a living culture of remembrance and against anti-Semitism, curated by Stella Jürgensen and Jürgen Krenz. This event is the start of a six-part series at Goldbekhaus against anti-Semitism and racismim as part of "1700 Years of Jewish Life in Germany“. The livestream can be followed free of charge.

Moderation: Stella Jürgensen Sponsored by Bezirksversammlung HH-Nord and "1700 Jewish life in Germany".
